• 5.0 out of 5 stars from galtina -- Spirit as art : I have known Ellie Harold for almost twenty years, first as a spiritual teacher, then as an artist, but always as a friend with an amazing ability to communicate in a very original way. I have also owned a contemporary art gallery for 25 years. I loved this book for many reasons, the first being that I got to hear her "voice", which is unique and powerful. But what I most enjoyed was her writing about making Art, about how she allows spirit as art to flow through her and she gives us insight into how to get our resistance out of the way. These are things she always taught as a Unity minister, but applied to art her guidance makes both more understandable. This book is great for those ready to deal with the logistics of getting serious about their own art, but it is also a book for those trying to make sure that art and the art market don't strip the soul out of the process. This is a difficult subject and Ellie has done a great job of reminding us that Art is a rare and beautiful place to be. ( Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2013 )

I always knew something very significant was missing from my life. I had long suspected it was a lack of self fulfillment that could only be realized by creating art. Ellie's book instantly removed any doubt about the importance of making art and motivated me to take the steps necessary to achieve my heart's desire. I found that small spaces invite big opportunity, and that an easel standing in the middle of my living room brought me far more joy than the aesthetics of an uncluttered room. I use the present tense because it offers support to which I'll return again and again. The concept of "aesthetic needs" immediately resonated with me. It gave a name to a passion I'd long felt within. The author invites you to be gentle with yourself while offering simple, practical steps to living your commitment to making art. Although, she speaks to those desiring to live an artist's life, her advice would serve anyone striving to fulfill his or her purpose in any endeavor. I am in deep gratitude for finding this book.
